Guardianship is a process by which the Court will appoint a “Guardian” to act as an agent for a person who lacks the capacity to act on their own behalf. A Guardianship may be necessary when an elderly individual is suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, and other times it may be necessary to appoint a Guardian for a minor child.
