Maria Yaima Carmona was born in Havana, Cuba. She immigrated to the United States and has lived in Miami most of her life.  Maria attended Florida International University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude. Maria attended St. Thomas University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctorate, graduating in the top five percent of her class. While in law school she made the Dean’s List every year (2012-2015); and earned the following awards:  Cali Book Awards for Business Association, 2014;  Cali Book Award for Federal Rules of Evidence, 2014; and Cali Book Award for Criminal Procedure, 2013.   Maria is a member in good standing with the following associations:   Florida Bar Association, Member; Dade County Bar Association, Member; American Bar Association, Member;  Supreme Court of Florida (2014).  Maria concentrates in the areas of civil litigation and insurance law at Hoffman & Hoffman. Prior to joining Hoffman and Hoffman, P.A., she practiced immigration law with a non-profit organization, collaborating with government and non-governmental agencies in the course of representation of victims of human trafficking, and other violent crime.  Maria actively volunteers with Food of Life Outreach Ministry, as a Food Distribution Volunteer; and with the Bureau of Education & Services for the Blind, as a Braille Transcriber Volunteer.
